Public Sector Management Program

The Public Sector Management Program is a University accredited Graduate certificate program administered by the Institute of Public Administration Australia, NSW Division, on behalf of the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet. The Program is a National joint venture across all jurisdictions offering Mid-level public sector employees from Commonwealth, State/Territory and Local Governments the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge needed to move into more senior management roles within the Public Sector.

The Program targets current managers and aspiring managers, and offers practical training, information sharing, networking, relevant curriculum and a supportive learning environment lead by qualified facilitators. It equips middle managers to meet contemporary and future challenges.

The Program comprises four Units:

Unit 1: Managing Up
The Framework of Public Sector Management

Unit 2: Managing Out
The Public Sector in the Community

Unit 3: Managing In
Ethics and Career Management in the Public Sector

Unit 4: Managing Down
Operational Management in the Public Sector

Upon completion, students achieve a Graduate Certificate in Public Sector Management from Flinders University.

Semester 1 cohorts commence between February and June.

Semester 2
cohorts commence between July and November.

Cohorts are filled on a first come, first served basis and there are a limited number of places in each cohort. There are multiple cohorts run each semester based on demand. Applications are accepted throughout the year.
