IPAA NSW Public Programs & Short Courses

The Institute offers an unequalled range of learning and development opportunities to support workforce development requirements through a targeted public program of short courses.

Each year the Institute consults with public sector organisations to identify learning and development needs and design targeted courses that support government policy priorities and organisational workplace initiatives.

For ease of reference training courses from our 2009 program are grouped into the following key subject areas:

Benefits of IPAA NSW short courses

  • Value for money - quality courses at affordable prices
  • Group sizes are limited - you won't get lost in the crowd!
  • Outstanding facilitators - carefully selected for their ability to cater for all styles of learning, their subject matter expertise and public sector knowledge and experience
  • Current adult learning principles form the basis of all learning and development activities
  • Highly challenging, interactive environments to assist learning, using outcome oriented techniques
  • Powerful educational methodologies, including experiential and activity based learning
  • Courses that are aligned to qualifications from the National Public Sector Training Package (PSP04) and university level
  • IPAA NSW members receive discounted rates for courses - you can quickly recoup the cost of membership
  • Participants attract a group rate when three or more from the same organisation book together and attend the same course
  • Participants who attend three courses in a 12-month period receive a one-off free membership for the next 12 months.

Our approach to learning

The Institute understands that adults learn best when the course content is directly relevant to their needs and when theory is reinforced in interactive sessions and practical exercises.

Our facilitators use the principles of adult learning as a basis for delivering training programs. This approach incorporates action learning that builds on and uses participants’ prior knowledge and experience. This approach provides skills, knowledge and tools to take back to the workplace and apply immediately.

About our facilitators

Facilitators engaged by the Institute have extensive experience working with government organisations. As well as being experts in their fields, they have held senior management positions in the public sector. This background enhances their ability to respond to the issues raised by participants, and to provide practical examples and case studies.

Venues

Where possible we use government owned or not-for-profit organisation's training rooms to deliver our public courses. We can arrange a venue to deliver courses specifically for your organisation if required.

Catering

All our public training events are fully catered. The menu includes a selection of quality dishes and refreshments.  When advised, we will ensure that special dietary needs are met.
