IPAA NSW 2008 professional development program of
public courses
The Institute offers an unequalled range of learning and development
opportunities to support workforce development requirements through
a targeted public program of short courses.
Each year the Institute consults with public sector organisations
to identify learning and development needs and design targeted courses
that support government policy priorities and organisational workplace
initiatives.
For ease of reference courses from our 2008 program are grouped into
the following key subject areas:

Our approach to learning
The Institute understands that adults learn best when the course
content is directly relevant to their needs and when theory is reinforced
in interactive sessions and practical exercises.
Our facilitators use the principles of adult learning as a basis
for delivering training programs. This approach incorporates action
learning that builds on and uses participants’ prior knowledge
and experience. This approach provides skills, knowledge and tools
to take back to the workplace and apply immediately.
About our facilitators
Facilitators engaged by the Institute have extensive experience working
with government organisations. As well as being experts in their fields,
they have held senior management positions in the public sector. This
background enhances their ability to respond to the issues raised by
participants, and to provide practical examples and case studies.
Venues
Where possible we use government owned or not-for-profit organisation's
training rooms to deliver our public courses. We can arrange a venue
to deliver courses specifically for your organisation if required.
Catering
All our public training events are fully
catered. The menu includes a selection of quality dishes and refreshments. When
advised, we will ensure that special dietary needs are met.
