Princeton
University Computer Model Princeton University has a computer model that quantifies
how the combination of multiple energy reduction
strategies can cause changes in CO2 levels. There
are 4 broad strategies (or "wedges"): energy efficiency
strategies, decarbonising power, decarbonising fuel,
and forest and agricultural strategies. Each of
these strategies is made up of practical programs: introducing
efficient vehicles, building efficient buildings, developing
wind power, reafforestation etc – 15 programs in all. Some
programs are more effective than others, and some combination
of programs are more successful than other combinations. There
is also a game so people can have “hands-on
experience with the challenges involved in cutting emissions”.
The point of the game is to work out the best mix of
activities to have the greatest impact on CO2.
