Call for speakers

The 14th National Investigations Symposium (NIS) will be held in Sydney from 28 – 29 May 2025 at the Hilton Sydney. This biennial conference advances knowledge and understanding of contemporary, best practice approaches for conducting effective investigations and increasing agency complaint-handling skills.

The call for speakers is now open. The NIS Organising Committee invites Australian and international leaders and practitioners to submit their application to present at the NIS.

Applications will be based on the following topics and fields:

  • conducting effective investigations – generalist and specialist approaches
  • best practice complaint management
  • approaches in use of forensic data
  • opportunities and risks in using AI in an investigation context
  • employing contemporary interviewing techniques including dealing with interviewee vulnerabilities
  • investigation case studies and lessons learned
  • tips and traps for investigating staff misconduct
  • developments in managing public interest disclosures
  • whistleblower and witness management and support mechanisms
  • safeguarding psychological safety for all parties to an investigation, including the subject and the investigator
  • professional development in related fields
  • achieving and embedding positive organisational change from investigations

Applications close on Wednesday 28 August 2024.
