Co-opted Councillor
Yvette is the Chief People Officer at the NSW Department of Education. She is
responsible for leading a diverse range of areas, including school workforce, health and safety,
people and culture, workplace relations, legal services and the Department’s Professional and Ethical
Standards team. A qualified teacher, lawyer and barrister, Yvette’s career has spanned almost 30
years.
Yvette commenced her career as a classroom teacher and then relieving Head of Faculty at
Dunheved High School. After spending time in classrooms and then in the Student Welfare
Directorate as a Senior Education Officer, and holding leadership roles at schools overseas, Yvette
returned to Australia to transition to a new career as a lawyer, barrister and worked in a number of
senior corporate executive positions in ASX-listed companies, including 10 years in healthcare.
Yvette is passionate about supporting and developing our people in achieving our goal to be
Australia’s best education system and one of the finest in the world.
