Delivering Real Results for Citizens® is a methodology which can be applied to your work to ensure that outcomes are focused on delivering real results for citizens. The NSW Government launched the Premier’s Priorities as a way of focusing on the key issues affecting the citizens of NSW. Following the March 2019 election, Premier Gladys Berejiklian set new Priorities to tackle tough community challenges, lift the quality of life for all citizens and put people at the heart of everything the NSW Government does. These priorities use the Delivering Real Results for Citizens® methodology to deliver meaningful results that will last.

The COVID-19 pandemic is a global challenge unlike any we’ve experienced in our lifetimes. Worldwide, public servants at every level and in every sector find themselves at the heart of response and recovery efforts. Delivery is how public servants move from ambitious goals to everyday impact; from promises to priorities to practical solutions. Whether it’s responding to and recovering from a crisis, or achieving long-term goals, delivery matters.

The Delivering Real Results for Citizens® e-package has been developed to replace the traditional Delivering Real Results for Citizens® masterclasses and therefore represents a more affordable way of developing your Delivering Real Results for Citizens® capability. The e-package is delivered through video instruction and examples, online reading, case studies and question and answer components. The e-package comprises 5 e-modules that each take about 45 minutes to complete, all of which you can work through at your own pace. The modules cover the following topics:

Module 1: Introduction
Discover the origins and history of Delivering Real Results for Citizens®, why this methodology has become a global phenomenon and how it has been applied in Australia and NSW. You will also learn how the successful adoption of this approach has already led to the delivery of meaningful results for many citizens.

Module 2: Data
Data is a critical element of delivering results and in this module you will explore the critical element of collecting data and how to use it to inform your decision-making.

Module 3: Fieldwork
Fieldwork is the process of gathering qualitative information and helps bring data to life. Learn how to prepare for fieldwork, draw on the delivery chain and conduct your fieldwork to gain optimal results.

Module 4: Targeted Actions
Use data to target actions that will gain the most results. Learn how to create a delivery plan and respond to any problems that arise.

Module 5: Routines
Routines are regularly-scheduled events that test if you are on track to reach your target – and the change you have promised to citizens.

You will receive a certificate once you have completed all 5 modules. Because Delivering Real Results for Citizens® is about practice – delivering results – there is no assessment. Your return on investment is that you will have a valuable capability that is recognised by the NSW public sector.

IPAA NSW has been working with the Premier’s Implementation Unit (PIU) to build the Delivering Real Results for Citizens® capability for more than 5 years. Learn more about the impact Delivering Real Results for Citizens® can have on your work in this interview with Samantha Gooch, a NSW public servant and Delivering Real Results for Citizens®  blackbelt practitioner.
