How can the NSW Government encourage people from underrepresented or vulnerable communities to become cyber security professionals?
Refugee Settlement in NSW - Full topic
Multicultural NSW is currently developing the first NSW Settlement Strategy to support refugees and migrants moving to Refugee Welcome Zones within NSW to develop sustainable sources of community inclusion and financial independence.
This strategy will reinforce existing support pathways available within local government areas, businesses and community groups. Using the NSW GROW pilot program as an example, propose one policy for the NSW Settlement Strategy that will address potential barriers to successful Refugee and Migrant settlement experiences in NSW.
Your proposal should focus on regional NSW and have a 12 month policy implementation prototype.
Academic Integrity - Full topic
NSW Department of Education and TAFE NSW develop our future community leaders through providing primary, secondary, tertiary, and higher education. Academic integrity is foundational to teacher practice and student achievements.
The way teachers understand, teach and enforce academic integrity is shifting due to technological advances, increased digital literacy of students and the NSW Curriculum's Review on building stronger foundations for education in primary and secondary schools.
Develop one innovative policy that public education institutions can implement to assist students to understand, self-regulate and contribute to best practice learning through academic integrity.
The policy proposal should target primary, secondary or tertiary/higher education and include implementation examples for front-line staff.

You will join a team of up to 5 YPs from other clusters and departments and work together to develop a creative policy solution to a major priority of the state.

For young professionals in the public sector who are ambitious in their career in public service and enthusiastic in co-constructing policy initiatives, the 2022 Policy Hack is a rare and invaluable program designed to support empowerment, skills-development, networking and exposure opportunities for young professionals.
Your engagement as a contributor in the 2022 Policy Hack will:
- Empower co-constructing policy initiatives relevant to current challenges in NSW
- Provide opportunities to collaborate with a diverse group of young professionals across the business units in NSW public sector
- Expand your skills in policy development, teamwork and collaboration
- Engage with a mentor as part of a team to guide your proposal
What to expect
The Policy Hack will kick off with the Opening Ceremony on Monday 19 September, where participants will hear from the business units working on each of the three policy challenges to introduce and contextualise the issues underpinning each challenge.
You and your team will then have two weeks to develop a submission, which will be reviewed by the Policy Hack working committee before being shared with the judges on the panel. The top 3 teams will present their ideas at the Closing Ceremony on Wednesday 19 October, during which the winning team will be announced and prizes awarded.

Register yourself via this page by 5pm Friday 9 September and we will allocate you to a team of 5 YPs from other departments and clusters.
Once you have met your fellow team members, you are encouraged to find a mentor to provide guidance as you work on your team’s submission. Feel free to contact us should you need to connect with a mentor as we have mentors who have kindly volunteered to assist.
Registrations close 5pm Friday 9 September.
Your team’s submission is due 5pm Wednesday 5 October.
