The Institute of Public Administration (NSW Division) and MinterEllison invite you to celebrate International Women’s Day and the inspiring role women have played in securing a strong public sector.

About the event

With the theme being Press for Progress you are invited to join a group of high profile women from the corporate, academic and political worlds as they offer their views on the importance of women in the public sector and share their insights for other women aspiring to leadership roles. 

The event will highlight the ever increasing role and number of women in senior positions and administration and will be an opportunity to reflect on how this transformation has come about and is developing.

As our special guest you will join senior leaders – both women and men – from across the NSW public and private sectors for an evening of canapés, conversation and inspirational speakers.

About the speakers

Professor The Hon Dame Marie Bashir AD, CVO - the first female Governor of New South Wales. 



Professor Bashir is the former Governor of New South Wales (2001-2014) and former Chancellor of the Univeristy of Sydney (2007-2012). Professor Bashir graduated from the University of Sydney in 1956 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. After completion of postgraduate studies in psychiatry, she was made a Member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 1971, becoming a Fellow in 1980. In 2001, Professor Bashir was appointed a Companion of the Order of Australia. In 2006, the Queen appointed her a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (CVO). In the 2014 Queen's Birthday Honours, Professor Bashir was made a Dame of the Order of Australia for "extraordinary and pre-eminent achievement and merit in service to the administration, public life, and people of New South Wales, to medicine, particularly as an advocate for improved mental health outcomes for the young, marginalised and disadvantaged, to international relations, through the promotion of collaborative health programs, and as a leader in tertiary education." 

The Honourable Nicola Roxon - Australia's first woman to serve as Attorney-General. 



The Honourable Nicola Roxon is a non-executive director and chairman on several listed, unlisted and not-for-profit boards. The breadth of these roles covers health, professional services, education and property. Prior to this, Ms Roxon was Health Minister, she managed an annual budget of $64 billion and negotiated major reforms to Australia's public hospital, primary care and preventative health systems. As Attorney-General, Ms Roxon oversaw the courts, Australia's intelligence agency ASIO, the Human Rights Commission and diverse laws stretching from cyber crime to family law. In both roles she led Australia's battle against tobacco - introducing the world's first plain packaging regime and successfully defending legal challenges from the tobacco industry. Ms Roxon's success as a leader, creative policy maker and outstanding achiever has earned her numerous awards, both nationally and internationally, including from the World Health Organization. Ms Roxon was inducted to Victoria's Honour Roll of Women in 2014 and named one of Australia's 100 Women of Influence in 2015.

Payments

Payment is required prior to attending the event or course. Please contact an IPAA NSW staff member if an exception is required.

Payments - Online Events

If you have an outstanding invoice for the event, you will not receive a link to the live event. 

Online Events

Only people registered to the event can access the content. Do not share login details with people who have not registered to the event

Cancellation policy - Events
  • Cancellation must be in writing and confirmed by an IPAA NSW staff member
  • Cancellation received more than 10 business days prior to the event – no penalty will be incurred
  • Cancellation received within 6-10 business days of the event – 50% of the fee is payable
  • Cancellation received less than 6 business days prior to the event – 100% of the fee is payable
  • No show – 100% of the fee is payable
  • Registrations received less than 6 business days prior to the event are non-refundable.

  • Cancellations are not permitted.

Note: If you do not cancel and do not attend and event or course, 100% of the fee must be paid.

Transfer policy - Events
  • All requests for transfers must be in writing
  • Substitute nominees may attend in your place where deemed appropriate; however, if a member wishes to substitute a non-member in their place the full fee will be payable.
Transfer policy - Scheduled Courses
  • All requests for transfers must be in writing
  • Your course registration can be transferred to another course without penalty if requested more than 10 business days prior to the course start date. Otherwise, the above cancellation policy applies. Transfers can only be requested when the course fee has been paid in full.
  • Transferring your registration to another person can be done at any time without penalty if nominee details are provided within a minimum of 2 business days prior to the course start date. Transferring from a member to a non-member will result in a fee increase in line with the non-member course fee.
Transfer policy - Self-paced Courses 
  • Transfers to another course are not allowed for self-paced courses.
We may in our discretion waive cancellation charges in exceptional circumstances, but we will not waive cancellation charges on account of work commitments.

Program Changes

IPAA NSW reserves the right to change programs/speakers/venue, or to cancel programs if the enrolment criteria are not met or when conditions beyond our control prevail. All registrants will be notified in the event of cancellation and their registration fee will be refunded.
