Is this event right for you?

Are you passionate about public service and how we can better serve the needs of our communities?

Are you keen to gain an insider’s look into what we can learn from Australia’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic?

Do you enjoy reflecting on lessons learnt so that we can collectively build greater public value?

What will you gain?

Fault Lines: An independent review into Australia’s response to Covid-19 recently found that Australia’s COVID-19 response exposed and exacerbated existing inequalities within society.

The review found that key groups were excluded from financial support, some lockdowns and border closures were avoidable, and schools should have remained open.

The review sounds a warning to governments against the perils of overreach when dealing with future health crises.

Low socio-economic families, women, children, aged care residents, people with disabilities, temporary migrants, multicultural communities, and others already experiencing disadvantage “bore the brunt of the pandemic”, according to the report.

The review also identifies four areas where we could have done better, five overarching lessons, and six recommendations to put societal fault lines at the centre of improving our response to the next crisis.

Facilitated by IPAA National President Professor Renée Leon PSM FIPAA, join Review Chair Peter Shergold AC, Adam Fennessy PSM, Dean and CEO of the Australia and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG), and Amanda Larkin, Chief Executive - South Western Sydney Local Health District in unpacking the learnings from the review at this exclusive IPAA event.

They will focus on how we can embed the Review’s lessons to work together for the public good and enact meaningful change for the people of Australia.

You will leave feeling challenged and gain a clearer line of sight between the work that you do and its impacts on the people that you serve.
