Speaker

Michael Coutts-Trotter
Secretary
NSW Treasury

Michael Coutts-Trotter is one of NSW’s most experienced public sector leaders. As the Secretary of NSW Treasury, he leads the work of the public sector in developing economic policy and reform and delivering on the NSW government's commitments and priorities.

He was first appointed to head a NSW Government department in 2004 and has since led seven agencies, including the Departments of Premier and Cabinet, Family and Community Services, Education and Finance and Services. He was appointed Secretary of NSW in May 2023.

His well-documented personal story is extraordinary, and it has given him real-life insights into the importance of public services that can reach the most marginalised members of the community.
