WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

You will leave this course with the tools and techniques to implement innovation in the workplace. You will explore innovation and its benefits, and what innovation means for public sector organisations and your work.

In this one day workshop, you will learn the techniques for inspiring innovative and creative thinking and the opportunity to practice these tools and techniques to implement innovation in your department or agency.

You will have the opportunity to explore their own experiences and those of your fellow learners, identify strengths and areas for improvement and share knowledge, skills, ideas and concerns.

You will participate in a number of activities including small group discussions and work through case studies based on real-life public-sector examples, applying frameworks and models introduced throughout the day.

You will finish this course knowing:

  • the Various Types of Innovation.
  • what does innovation mean for public sector organisations and those they serve?
  • the OECD’s integrated framework for analysing public sector innovation.
  • aligning Innovation Direction to Department's Strategies.
  • assessment: what are you doing currently?
  • analysis: who is doing it well?
  • leading and supporting innovation in the public sector.
  • innovation and your team: leader’s role in innovation.
  • developing cultural conditions to facilitate innovation initiatives.
  • techniques for Inspiring Innovative and Creative Thinking; Double Diamond, the Ingenuity.
  • different innovative thinking techniques and evaluate their benefits and limitations.
  • the Ingenuity Process and the Double Diamond Process.
  • putting Theory into Practice: Develop and practice the key tools and techniques to implement innovation in the workplace.
  • establishing success indicators of your innovation plans.
  • assessing the merit of innovative ideas.
  • define measures and milestones.
  • executing innovation plans successfully.
