Co-opted Councillor

Brett Whitworth is the Deputy Secretary, Office of Local Government with responsibility for the legal, governance and finance frameworks that underpin the operation of the local government sector across NSW. The local government sector in NSW covers 48,000 employees, $13b in yearly expenditure and over $170b in assets under management.

Brett has previously been the Deputy Secretary for both Land Use Planning and Planning Policy within the Department of Planning and Environment, as well as holding executive positions responsible for land release, strategic planning and regional planning teams. He has degrees in economic geography, natural resources law and policy as well as public administration and has worked within the State public service for over 30 years.
