Co-opted Councillor

Samara Dobbins has over 20 years’ experience in leadership roles in Commonwealth and NSW Government.

Ms Dobbins is currently Deputy Secretary and Chief People Officer at the NSW Premier’s Department leading the People and Workforce Group, which encompasses functions such as NSW Industrial Relations, whole of NSW public sector Workforce Planning, provision of departmental and ministerial human resource services, along with the Expert Advisory Network function.

Ms Dobbins has worked extensively as a people leader and in senior executive roles, previously working at the Fair Work Ombudsman, the Public Service Commission, the Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing, the Information and Privacy Commission and the Department of Premier and Cabinet.

Ms Dobbins’ experience extends to managing industrial and workforce matters, corporate services including finance, ICT and human resources, audit and governance, and contemporary regulatory schemes. Ms Dobbins also led the drafting and delivery of the ethical framework and values for the NSW public sector.

As a people leader Ms Dobbins has expertise in managing large teams of high-performing staff to deliver outcomes-focused strategic goals, coordinate the delivery of complex Government’s priorities, drive change management and organisational effectiveness.
