Welcome to the refreshed Working in Government experience from IPAA NSW.

This updated format introduces a quiz-based experience designed to help public sector employees test and build their understanding of how government operates in New South Wales. Through practical questions, videos and short scenarios, the quiz introduces key concepts such as structures, responsibilities and ethical frameworks that underpin work across the NSW public sector.

Unlike a traditional course, this experience is designed to be completed in one sitting, allowing you to assess your current knowledge and identify areas for further development. The quiz is available to start at any time and can be completed at your own pace. It is delivered through IPAA NSW’s learning platform, ilearn. Once you register, you will receive an email with instructions on how to access the quiz and log in to ilearn.

The quiz includes video-based questions and decorative images. Accessibility improvements include captions and full screen viewing options. You can work through each section progressively. Once you begin a section, a time limit applies. Optional help nudges are available, however you are encouraged to attempt each question first to get an accurate reflection of your current understanding.

At the end, you will receive your score along with suggested resources to support further learning.

Please allow up to 1 hour to complete the full experience. The pass mark per section is 60%.

How long should it take

Under 1 hour!

The recommended approach is to complete each section in order with a pass mark of 60%, pass the section and move to the next or review the support resources and attempt the section again. This approach intends to help participants maximise their final score and grow their knowledge at an easy to follow pace.

Each section of the quiz will ask you to answer a few questions on various topics to do with working in the NSW public sector – things like the importance of diversity, records management, parliamentary sitting dates, the budget and definition of the various central agencies. Sometimes they will appear as a short video to watch and then a question on the topic discussed in the video, other times it will just be a multiple choice Q&A.

You will receive a score for every correct answer within a section, and you have the opportunity to review the explanation if you get an answer wrong at the end of that topic section.

There is no study required, just have a go and test your current knowledge today.

Join as a team

Participating in the program as a team will help you establish a baseline of knowledge and learn a common language, enabling effective knowledge transfer and communication.

This is a great way to leverage the platform's gamification element as your team learns together. Discussions of the questions (and videos), and how they are scoring really helps to amplify the benefits of team-based learning, such as increased collaboration and engagement.
